What is Extended Access?
Additional same day and booked appointments provided by GPs, Nurse Prescribers, Practice Nurses and other clinicians outside of your core General Practice hours.
Available as follows:
18:30 - 20:00 Monday to Friday
08:30 - 12:30 Saturday
08:30 - 10:30 Sundays
Bank Holidays 8:30 - 10:30
All appointments will be provided from
Woodsend Medical Centre
Who can use Extended Access?
Any patient registered with one of the following GP practice can be referred into an extended access appointment:
Woodsend Medical Centre
The Studfall Partnership
Great Oakley Medical Centre
Those who find it difficult to attend appointments during the working day
Those who are working parents with children
Those who rely on transport by others
The community GP Hub appointments are for routine general practice issues and not for urgent care. If urgent care is required please call the NHS 111 service for advice.
What type of appointments are available?
A range of appointments are available at the hub, including the following:
GP - Routine GP Appointments
Advanced Nurse Practitioner - acute minor illness
Health Care Assistants - new patients medicals & lifestyle advice
Practice Nurse - family planning, blood pressure checks, foot pulse checks, ear syringing.
First Contact Physiotherapists - specialist assessment of any acute muscle skeletal condition (over 16 years)
How to book an appointment?
All the appointments in the Corby hub are booked by the patients practice remotely. Some appointments are booked on the day, some appointments are booked in advance.
No WALK-IN facility is available.
To book a hub appointment, please contact your GP practice.
Blood tests and referrals?
The GP Hub clinicians will be able to view previous test results. If a test is needed a recommendation will be made to your usual GP practice.
Routine referrals will not be made directly from the GP Hub. If a routine referral is required, a recommendation will be made to your usual GP practice.
An emergency referral on the same day will be arranged directly by the Hub clinician.
To provide the safest and highest quality of care, patients full clinical record will be available to the GP Hub clinicians.
Patients attending the Hub will be asked to give consent to allow access to your full record.
Notes of consultations will be recorded and saved into the patients own GPs electronic record, to ensure all patient records are kept up to date.
